About Danielle LaPorte + Linda Sivertsen
Danielle LaPorte
I’m interested in liberating truth, raw reality, and grace. I think feminine power and progressive commerce will revolutionize how we live. In my experience, if you steer clear of dogma and muster up more love than you thought you had to give, then your vitality increases, satisfaction sets in, sweetness surfaces. I believe in the creative power of good feelings. I’m convinced that the desire to be real is everyone’s divine imperative. Yeah!
My offerings, to the world.
1. I write — at my own site, DanielleLaPorte.com — and on other sites and magazines.
I wrote THE SPARK KIT: A Digital Experience for Entrepreneurs, which is very hot stuff.
So hot, in fact, that it’s been alchemized into a print book: The Fire Starter Sessions (Random House/Crown Archetype), out NOW.
2. I speak to audiences about authenticity and entrepreneurship and share my experiences from ashrams to raising venture capital. I do this on stage at conferences, and formerly as a weekly commentator on the CBC National TV show, Connect with Mark Kelley.
3. I’m a humanitarian… who happens to be an entrepreneur. I work philanthropic goals into just about everything I create. And this program is no exception. $5 from every sale of YOUR BIG BEAUTIFUL BOOK PLAN will go directly to FSC®.
My past life.
I never went to university. For this, I am very grateful.
A LONG TIME AGO… I had a real job, co-running The Body Shop Canada’s Department of Social Inventions. We refurbished Romanian orphanages, and ran recycling and rock-the-vote campaigns. So thankfully, it wasn’t really a real job.
I was the Executive Director of a Washington D.C. think tank where I managed a team of brilliant analysts to create future scenarios for the likes of the Pentagon, IBM and the State of the World Forum. I hung out with Navy Admirals and signed NDAs every other day. Trippy.
Before that, I ran my own communications and business development agency, “promoting visionary people and projects,” including a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, a philosopher-physicist, a rogue economist, the Pulitzer-winning co-founder of Greenpeace, and a few old pop stars.
NOT SO LONG AGO… I was featured in BusinessWeek.com, USAToday.com, Elle, Body + Soul, Vogue Australia, Better Homes & Gardens, Globe & Mail, The National Post, The Huffington Post, Entertainment Tonight, and numerous talk shows. I wrote Style Statement: Live By Your Own Design, which The Globe & Mail deemed, “Haute Minded”. It ranked as an Amazon bestseller and caught the attention of Oprah. That was fun. I built a big website and media presence based on that brand, and then went super rogue.
Creative sovereignty is bliss.

I believe — make that, know — that literary agents and editors are praying for YOU to show up and amaze them, just as much as you’re yearning for them to say YES.
Think about that. Meditate on that!
I’m a book proposal doctor, author whisperer, agent connector, idea-fairy, and huge-hearted cheerleader of creativity for writers of all genres. My ghostwriting, coaching, & curatorial talents have been summoned by Emmy & Oscar award winners, business leaders, and celebrity clients in Los Angeles, and around the world. I’ve been featured on CNN, E!, Extra, & in the NY Post, New York Times, Family Circle, Teen Vogue, and the Huffington Post. I’ve also written & co-written eight books, including Closer Than You Think (April 2012, Conari Press), Generation Green (Simon & Schuster), Lives Charmed (HCI), and the NY Times bestseller Harmonic Wealth (Hyperion).
I’m lean, mean + green. Well, maybe not mean.
I’m a devoted environmentalist. I raised my son Tosh in a solar-powered cabin that my then-husband and I built from the soil up — rooftop rainwater catcher, and all. I completed one of my first books while living 100% off-grid, on a stretch of 365 acres that my family and I saved from poachers. My environmental writing and activism have been endorsed by The Sierra Club, honored by the National Green Earth Book Awards, and recognized by Earth Island Journal for “raising the stakes & raising hope for a world with a future.”
When I’m not helping writers land 6- and 7-figure book deals at my heart-stirring writing retreats in Carmel-by-the-Sea, you can find me hiking with my man and our two dogs, swinging my nine-iron on the golf course, or perfecting my latest raw-food creation. Yum.
Right now, this moment…
I believe, with all my heart, that no amount of rejection or naysaying about your Big Dream proves anything. Hold on to your dreams and convictions. You’re never out of the running for the things you truly want.
Keep moving forward.
